CGI Group
GIB
today announced it has a seven-year, $50 million contract with University Health Network, Toronto, Ontario. This announcement follows yesterday's eHealth Ontario and Canada Health Infoway's announcement of this transformational project that will see CGI design, build and manage a shared diagnostic imaging repository (DI-r) solution while providing support services to the system's users. CGI's solution will provide a secure, shared repository for storage, retrieval and viewing of diagnostic images such as X-rays and MRIs, and associated documents across multiple hospital sites in greater Toronto and central Ontario (GTA West). UHN represents a consortium of five local health information networks (LHINs) and 21 hospitals representing approximately 39 sites in the Greater Toronto Area (
GTA
) and Central Ontario. Diagnostic imaging exam volumes are expected to exceed an annual volume of three million exams in five years. The $50 million agreement was signed last spring, making this the largest project of its kind in Ontario.
