Amid the Ukraine war, the U.S. Army hastens its electronic warfare advancements, reports Business Insider.
Electronic warfare has become pivotal in the ongoing Ukraine conflict. Both Ukraine and Russia deploy EW to disrupt each other’s operations. This has intensified the U.S. Army‘s push to enhance its electronic warfare weaponry. The war showcases drones’ significant roles, from artillery spotting to armored vehicle destruction. Jamming has emerged as a potent counter-drone measure.
The U.S. Army is “fundamentally reinvesting in rebuilding our tactical electronic-warfare capability,” stated Douglas Bush, assistant secretary of the Army for acquisition, logistics, and technology in a recent roundtable.
While the U.S. Army’s electronic warfare capabilities face challenges, adversaries like Russia and China have heavily invested in electronic warfare. The U.S. military’s reliance on electronic communications makes it especially susceptible to electronic warfare attacks.
The U.S. Army remains committed to its electronic warfare programs, learning from the Ukraine situation.
