Google Bard Vs. Microsoft Bing: Which Side Are Tech Experts On?

Alphabet Inc.’s GOOG GOOGL Google on Tuesday opened access to “Bard” — but even though it came a little late to the party, the AI-powered bot couldn’t impress netizens and tech experts.

What Happened: Within 24 hours of Google announcing open access to Bard, users have started drawing comparisons between its rival OpenAI’s chatGPT and Microsoft Corporation’s MSFT Bing chat.

Popular tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee who has 16.7 million subscribers on the platform, took to Twitter to share his experience with Google’s Bard and said, “Bing is way ahead of Google right now.”

Social media commentator, Matt Navarra, called Google Bard a “sensible, smart assistant” and compared chatGPT with a “wild, brainy college roommate.”

Tech tweeter Jane Manchun Wong also used Google Bard but couldn’t get an answer before rephrasing it.

Juan Buis, a freelance UX writer and content designer, shared his experience with Google Bard and found that the AI-powered platform had “already been shut down” (not really).

Why It’s Important: While announcing open access to Bard, Google admitted that it is prone to making up facts and could propagate biases and stereotypes found within the internet data. Google also cautioned users to beware of Bard’s limitations.

Having said that, it is clear Google intends to compete with chatGPT, Bing and other generative AI products

Previously, Microsoft’s Bing also faced backlash from users as it ignited some concerns for being extremely manipulative, defensive and sometimes dangerous.
