Google Pixel Watch Reportedly Has A Glitch: Screen Turns Off After 15 Mins Despite AoD Being On

Alphabet Inc.'s GOOG GOOGL Google Pixel Watch's always-on display, or AOD, feature is reportedly not supporting watch faces using older development practices.

What Happened: Some Google Pixel Watch owners have found that older watch faces don't fully support its always-on display, reported 9To5Google. Due to this problem, the AOD feature turns off after about 15 minutes. The AOD performs as expected up until that time.

The issue was tested by 9To5Google on older watch faces such as Looks on Pixel Watch and Fossil Gen 6 Wellness. They could not replicate this on Samsung's SSNLF Galaxy Watch 4, stated the report.

Why It's Important: According to one developer, the aforementioned problem affects clocks that aren't created using the Jetpack Watch Face framework.
In December 2021, the Jetpack Watch Face library was supposed to replace the previous Wearable Support Library. The bug report mentions that the Pixel Watch stock faces use the Jetpack Watch Face library.

Google reopened the bug report on Monday after initially closing it on Friday, stated the report. The tech giant is actively looking into the problem and may soon come up with a solution, the report added.
