Microsoft Provides Details On Virtual Reality And Project Evo Partnerships With QUALCOMM And Intel
According to PCWorld, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) just revealed the "future of the PC."
Microsoft is hosting its Windows Hardware Engineering Community event (WinHEC) in Shenzhen, China, and detailed an ongoing partnership with QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ: QCOM) and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) to build the next generation of modern PCs that implement mixed reality, gaming, advanced security and artificial intelligence. The partnership is known as "Project Evo."
"With Project Evo, Microsoft and Intel will deliver all-new ways for devices to light up with the latest in advanced security, artificial intelligence and Cortana, mixed reality, and gaming," Microsoft said in its blog post.
Microsoft touted the fact that it is the only platform that can unify the mixed reality ecosystem, provide inside-out tracking for HDMs, a single platform and standardized inputs for developers as well as a consistent interface with one store for customers.
The company added that its collaboration will result in the following improvements in its technology:
- Far-field speech communications.
- Advances in bio-metric authentication, world-class security intelligence and analytics from Intel.
- Mixed reality experiences in affordable PCs.
- Gaming innovations including support for 4K, High Dynamic Range, Wide Color Gamut, spatial audio.
Shares of Microsoft were trading near flat Thursday morning.
