Indian Markets Rise; Sensex Up Over 200 Points


Indian stock markets were trading higher on Friday. The S&P BSE Sensex climbed 217 points, or 0.84 percent at 26077.29. The 30-share index touched a low of 25,874.45 in morning trade. The Nifty50 rose 1.04 percent to 8048.05, after touching a low of 7,976.75 in morning trade.

The S&P BSE Midcap Index gained 0.29 percent, while the BSE S&P Smallcap Index rose 0.60 percent.

Shares of SpiceJet rose over 4 percent on Friday, as the company is scheduled to report September quarter results later in the day.

The Indian rupee rose 5 paise to trade at 68.67 against the U.S. dollar on Friday.

Direxion Daily India Bull 2X Shares INDL fell 2.16 percent to close at $41.21 on Wednesday, while PowerShares India Portfolio (ETF) PIN dropped 0.74 percent to close at $18.66.

U.S. markets were closed Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday. US stock markets closed mostly higher on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 0.31 percent, the S&P500 index rising 0.08 per cent, and the Nasdaq Composite dropping 0.11 percent.

US WTI crude futures on the NYMEX dropped 0.71 percent to trade at $47.62 per barrel.

  • Lyka Labs Ltd. rose about 20 percent to 61.55 INR.
  • Onelife Capital Advisors Ltd. rose 20 percent to 24.90 INR.
  • Oil Country Tubular Ltd. shares gained around 20 percent to 34.50 INR.
  • Bodhtree Consulting Ltd. shares surged 20 percent to 30.20 INR.

 

  • Birla Cotsyn (India) Ltd. slipped 50 percent to 0.05 INR.
  • Landmarc Leisure Corporation Ltd. shares dropped around 13 percent to 0.68 INR.
  • Syschem (India) Ltd. fell around 11 percent to 5.51 INR.
  • Kamadgiri Fashion Ltd. shares declined 9 percent to 70.00 INR.
