The Dow fell 0.28 percent to 18,151.40, while the NASDAQ composite index declined 0.49 percent to 5,220.71. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 0.41 percent to 2,135.59.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Toy & Hobby Stores: This industry slipped 1.8 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc BBW, which fell 1.8 percent. Build-A-Bear is expected to report Q3 results on October 27, 2016.
  • Telecom Services - Domestic: This industry declined 1.8 percent by 11:00 am with Consolidated Communications Holdings Inc CNSL moving down 6.3 percent. Stephens & Co. downgraded Consolidated Communications from Equal-Weight to Underweight.
  • Auto Parts Wholesale: This industry fell 1.7 percent by 11:00 am ET. Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc. CVGI shares dropped 3.7 percent in today's trading. Commercial Vehicle shares have surged 37.31 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 5.59 percent in the same period.
  • Catalog & Mail Order Houses: The industry dropped 1.6 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Vipshop Holdings Ltd - ADR VIPS, which declined 2.2 percent.
