Amazon Unveils Music Streaming Service Starting At $7.99 A Month

AMZN AMZN launched Amazon Music Unlimited with a price of $7.99 a month or $79 a year for its Prime Members. As far as non-Prime Members, the new service would come at a higher price of $9.99 a month.

The company indicated there would be more choice for its Prime members than ever before on music streaming. The retailer disclosed that already millions of its Prime Members were using the Music to be rated as one of the most popular streaming services.

Amazon pointed out that Prime catalog has witnessed rapid growth to over two million songs and more than 1,000 hand-curated playlists apart from personalized stations. The company indicated that the yearly subscription price equaled to $6.58 a month.

Founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos, said, "If you want a sense of the future of voice-controlled music, go ahead and ask Alexa for a free Music Unlimited trial, and play around on your Echo. If you don't know the name of a song but know a few lyrics, if you want to hear songs from a specific decade, or even if you're looking for music to match your mood, just ask."

The retailer indicated it would also come out with $149 a year or $14.99 a month subscription plan "For Family" enabling six members to access Amazon Music Unlimited.

The stock traded at $831.38, up $0.38, or 0.05 percent.
