The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Shipping: This industry slipped 2.3 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Rand Logistics, Inc. RLOG, which fell 2.6 percent. Rand Logistics shares have declined 62.91 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has increased 8.23 percent in the same period.
  • Cigarettes: This industry declined 1.3 percent by 11:00 am with British American Tobacco PLC (ADR) BTI moving down 2.7 percent. British American Tobacco shares have climbed 13.96 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 8.23 percent in the same period.
  • Silver: This industry fell 1.2 percent by 11:00 am ET. Endeavour Silver Corp EXK shares dropped 5.4 percent in today's trading. Silver futures declined 0.2 percent to trade at $17.75 an ounce.
  • Diversified Communication Services: The industry dropped 1 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Crown Castle International Corp CCI, which declined 2.1 percent.
