Free $500? Big Banks Offer Enticing Promotions To Switch

Some big banks are capitalizing on Wells Fargo & Co (NYSE: WFC)'s meltdown by offering some enticing promotions just to open new accounts, according to SeekingAlpha.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) is offering up to $500 to open up accounts at the bank. New customers get $300 dollars when they open a Chase Total Checking account and set up direct deposit. The bank is also offering $200 to customers who open a new Chase Savings account, deposit a total of $15,000 within 10 business days and maintain a $15,000 balance for 90 days.

Citigroup Inc (NYSE: C) is offering a similar deal. If an account holder deposits at least $15,000 in a Citibank account package and leaves it in there for at least four months, the bank will offer up a $400 "dividend" — not too bad for a federally insured account with no risk to user's principal.
