The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Communication Equipment: This industry slipped 0.8 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Communications Systems, Inc. JCS, which fell 8 percent. Communications Systems has declared a quarterly dividend of $0.04 per share and increased its line of credit from $10 million to $15 million.
  • Residential Construction: This industry declined 0.6 percent by 11:00 am with New Home Company Inc NWHM moving down 0.5 percent. New Home Company shares have declined 34.51 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 4.07 percent in the same period.
  • Telecom Services - Domestic: This industry fell 0.6 percent by 11:00 am ET. FairPoint Communications Inc FRP shares dropped 1 percent in today's trading. FairPoint Communications shares have dropped 23.91 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 4.07 percent in the same period.
  • Toys & Games: The industry dropped 0.5 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Mattel, Inc. MAT, which declined 0.7 percent.
