The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Specialty Retail, Other: This industry slipped 0.9 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Murphy USA Inc MUSA, which fell 0.5 percent. Murphy USA shares have surged 47.82 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 3.88 percent in the same period.
  • Advertising Agencies: This industry declined 0.6 percent by 11:00 am with VisionChina Media Inc (ADR) VISN moving down 1.8 percent. VisionChina Media shares have dropped 52.24 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 3.88 percent in the same period.
  • Meat Products: This industry fell 0.4 percent by 11:00 am ET. Hormel Foods Corp HRL shares dropped 1.3 percent in today's trading. Hormel Foods is expected to release quarterly earnings on August 18, 2016.
  • Long Distance Carriers: The industry dropped 0.4 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Elephant Talk Communications Corp ETAK, which declined 6.3 percent.
