Price Check: Are Amazon's Prime Day Deals Better Than Walmart.com Prices?

Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN is grabbing a lot of headlines for its second annual Prime Day, but competitor Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. WMT is fighting back by offering free shipping with no minimum purchase requirement. Walmart has also been offering a number of “Rollbacks” since July 1.

But can Wal-Mart really compete with Amazon’s Prime Day deals? Here’s a sampling of some of the "Spotlight Deals" Amazon is promoting today and how much the items currently cost on Walmart.com.

While Prime Day is a one-day event, Walmart has said that its deals will remain available for the entire month of July or until supplies run out.

Among the deals Walmart has been aggressively promoting are the following offers:

Apple TV 32 or 64 GB for $129

Apple iPhone 5S 16 GB Straight Tak Prepaid Smartphone for $149

Lenovo Flex i5 laptop for $399.

Ironically, enthusiasm and awareness of Amazon’s Prime Day promotion will likely help to promote deals offered by Wal-Mart and other Amazon competitors as shoppers look to compare prices.
