Boeing, Airbus Talks With Iran 'Ongoing'

Aviation giants Boeing Co BA and Airbus Group EADSY are still in talks with Iran over aircraft deals, Tasnim News Agency reported citing Iranian Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi.

"Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Sunday, Akhoundi pointed to the talks held between Iran's aviation officials and representatives of Boeing and Airbus in a bid to upgrade the country's aging fleet and said the talks are ongoing," according to the report.

The report said the minister further highlighted former agreements between Tehran and Boeing/Airbus "will be implemented according to schedule."

Tasnim News Agency noted that Iran signed a major deal worth $27 billion with Airbus to buy 118 planes from the company. "However, the minister refused to elaborate on the agreements and gave no information about the timeline for the delivery of the purchased airplanes," the report continued.

At the time of writing, shares of Boeing had fallen 1.18 percent to $128.16 and Airbus was down 3.22 percent at $13.75.
