The Dow rose 0.75 percent to 17,913.55, while the NASDAQ composite index climbed 0.78 percent to 4,871.19. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.71 percent to 2,100.35.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Residential Construction: This industry slipped 1.1 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Comstock Holding Companies Inc CHCI, which fell 1 percent. Comstock Holding shares have tumbled 56.19 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has declined 0.80 percent in the same period.
  • Tobacco Products, Other: This industry declined 0.6 percent by 11:00 am with Turning Point Brands Inc TPB moving down 1.8 percent. Turning Point Brands will join the all-cap Russell 3000 Index on June 27, 2016.
  • Foreign Utilities: This industry fell 0.4 percent by 11:00 am ET. CPFL Energia S.A. (ADR) CPL shares dropped 0.4 percent in today's trading. CPFL Energia shares have gained 4.05 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has dropped 0.80 percent in the same period.
  • Security & Protection Services: The industry dropped 0.4 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Command Security Corporation MOC, which declined 3.8 percent.
