Virgin America Inc. VA revealed its preliminary operational results for May 2016. The airline's load factor grew 1.9 points to 86.1 percent in May. According to the company, the number of onboard passengers witnessed 16.8 percent growth in May compared to the preceding year period.
Virgin America said its revenue passenger miles recorded a growth of 18.1 percent in May as measured in available seat miles, which witnessed 15.5 percent growth over the same month in the preceding year.
For the year-to-date, the company's load factor advanced 10 basis points to 82.2 percent. Its RPM and RSM recorded 15.5 percent and 15.3 percent respectively for the period until May.
Shares of the company traded 0.21 percent down on Thursday.
