Worst Performing Industries For June 7, 2016

The Dow rose 0.40 percent to 17,992.00, while the NASDAQ composite index gained 0.02 percent to 4,969.80. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 0.30 percent to 2,115.71.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

Grocery Stores: This industry slipped 1 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Casey's General Stores Inc (NASDAQ: CASY), which fell 4.4 percent. Casey's reported weaker-than-expected earnings for the latest quarter on Monday.

Copper: This industry declined 0.8 percent by 11:00 am with Freeport-McMoRan Inc (NYSE: FCX) moving down 2.5 percent. Freeport-McMoRan shares have dropped 41.81 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 1.41 percent in the same period.

Computer Peripherals: This industry fell 0.7 percent by 11:00 am ET. Qumu Corp (NASDAQ: QUMU) shares dropped 5.6 percent in today's trading. Qumu shares have declined 48.67 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 1.41 percent in the same period.

Investment Brokerage - Regional: The industry dropped 0.6 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Raymond James Financial, Inc. (NYSE: RJF), which declined 1.1 percent.
