AT&T Invests Over $1 Billion In 3 -Year Period to Improve Louisiana Network

disclosed that it invested over $1 billion in its wireless and wired networks in Louisiana during the three-year period 2013-2015. The company said that these investments fueled a wide range of upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and businesses in the region. According to the telecom service provider, they also improved critical services that supported public safety, as well as, first responders. AT&T said that it invested in its Louisiana communications networks, people and local communities for 137 years. The company added that the recent notable network improvements included 1,091 upgrades with new cell sites, the addition of wireless and wired network capacity apart from new broadband network connections. The company's President for Louisiana, Sonia Perez, commented, "We're committed to providing our customers fast, reliable, highly secure connectivity. We want them to be able to access the content they want from anywhere and on any device. Our continued investment in Louisiana allows our over 4,700 Louisiana employees to expand our fiber network and bring new, innovative services like AT&T GigaPower to our residents and businesses." The telecom service provider also indicated that its GigaPower offered fastest Internet speeds, up to 1Gbps2 over a 100% fiber network to over 1.6 million locations across 22 major metro areas. AT&T revealed plans to expand the availability of Internet speeds maximum of 1Gbps to homes, apartments and small businesses in parts of 34 additional cities across the U.S., including Baton Rouge, Shreveport-Bossier, the Jefferson Parish region and the Northshore in 2016. Shares of the company traded 0.46 percent down on Monday.
