Prudential Financial Hires Melissa Kivett As SVP And Business Strategy Officer

Prudential Financial Inc PRU revealed it named Melissa Kivett as senior vice president and Business Strategy Officer for its Prudential Annuities. According to the company, this was a newly-created role, and Kivett would lead the overall development of business strategy. He would be reporting to president of Prudential Annuities, Lori Fouche. She would join the senior leadership team.

Commenting on the appointment, Prudential's Fouche said "As we embark on a more holistic approach to strategy, planning and execution, Melissa will apply her extensive career experiences in building innovative and customer-focused growth platforms to her new position in Prudential Annuities."

Before joining the company, Kivett served as SVP, Business Development and Strategy, for the New York-based Assurant, a specialty insurer. In this role she led the development of strategy for a diverse mix of insurance businesses and non-insurance technology and services businesses.

The company indicated that she served as SVP, Investor Relations for Assurant, overseeing the company's IPO. Kivett also oversaw Branding, Marketing and Communications at Fortis, Inc., Assurant's predecessor.

On Thursday, shares of the company traded 1.17 percent lower.
