Valeant Pharmaceuticals Intl Inc VRX rose 5.28 percent to $35.10 in pre-market trading. The Wall Street Journal reported that Perrigo's CEO Joseph Papa will be named new Valeant CEO as early as next week.

Norfolk Southern Corp. NSC rose 4.68 percent to $86.50 in pre-market trading on upbeat Q1 earnings.

Southwestern Energy Company SWN rose 4.03 percent to $11.10 in pre-market trading on strong Q1 results.

Microsoft Corporation MSFT shares fell 4.45 percent to $53.30 in pre-market trading as the company reported weaker-than-expected earnings for its third quarter on Thursday.

Visa Inc V shares fell 4.38 percent to $77.25 in pre-market trading. Visa reported upbeat earnings for its second quarter, but the company lowered its revenue forecast for the full year.

Starbucks Corporation SBUX shares fell 3.40 percent to $58.58 in pre-market trading. Starbucks reported in-line earnings for its second quarter, but the company missed analysts’ sales expectations. The company also narrowed its profit outlook for the full year.

AutoNation, Inc. AN shares fell 3.23 percent to $46.50 in pre-market trading. AutoNation reported Q1 adjusted earnings of $0.90 per share on revenue of $5.12 billion.

Caterpillar Inc. CAT shares fell 2.26 percent to $76.92 in pre-market trading. Caterpillar reported downbeat earnings for the first quarter and lowered its outlook for the full year.
