Blackstone Said to Consider Buyout of Concordia
The Rumor:
Blackstone Group LP (NYSE: BX) is considering a bid for Concordia Healthcare Corp., (NASDAQ: CXRX), according to sources as reported by Bloomberg on Thursday. The two sides are in talks regarding a potential
deal, the sources said, but a deal may not happen.
Concordia closed at $30.50 on Thursday, up 25%.
CombiMatrix Announced it's Exploring Strategic Alternatives
The Strategic Review:
CombiMatrix Corporation (NASDAQ: CBMX) announced Thursday, it has begun to explore strategic options, including M&A and business development opportunities. CombiMatrix has hired Torreya Capital, a division
of the Financial West Investment Group, Inc. as an advisor on the process.
CombiMatrix said it may consider and acquisition of a company or technology, or help "another entity enhance its offering by leveraging our expertise and infrastructure."
CombiMatrix closed at $3.31 on Thursday, down 3.5%.
Allergan Acquires Topkine Therapeutics for Upfront Payment of $85M
The Deal:
Allergan plc (NYSE: AGN) announced Thursday, that it has acquired clinical-stage biotechnology company, Topokine Therapeutics for an upfront payment of $85 million. There will also be success-based development and sales milestones for XAF5, a treatment for steatoblepharon, or undereye bags.
Allergan closed at $227.49 on Thursday, down $0.45.
