'Zootopia' Hype Is Huge For Disney

Two days prior to the release of Disney's animated film Zootopia, organic social chatter associated with the film (as measured by # tweets containing "Zootopia", not including re-tweets) are exceeding those of Big Hero 6 by 50 percent and The Good Dinosaur by 300 percent at the equivalent prelease stages of those films. Big Hero 6 and Good Dinosaur opened domestically to $56 million and $39 million respectively. Zootopia's social momentum, combined with strong early critical reviews (100% Rotten Tomatoes rating) point to the possibility that the film could exceed Hollywood's $60 million domestic opening weekend box office projections, a net positive for DIS.
