AMZN
is looking to stay in business with the creative force that helped its TV division finally breakthrough in the awards race. The streaming giant has greenlit a pilot for "I Love Dick," a new comedy being directed by "Transparent" creator Jill Soloway. The series would be based on the 1997 Chris Kraus book about a married couple on the verge of separation and their mutual obsession with a quirky art professor named Dick. The series, set in the academic community of Marfa, Texas, will be told in a "Rashomon" style which means audiences will the same story told from different perspectives. Amazon hasn't gone into much more detail but given the book was written more as a series of letters between the three; it will take some creativity to bring it to the small screen. Given the success Soloway has helped Amazon achieve, investors should take notice that a potential second series from her may be on the way. "Transparent" is currently streaming its second season on Amazon's Prime service and its star Jeffrey Tambor is the reigning Emmy winner for Best Actor in a Comedy (among many other big accolades).
