Burger King Thinks You'll Eat BK Hot Dogs

Burger King betrayed its namesake on Wednesday when the company announced it would expand from burgers and chicken and begin selling hot dogs on February 23.

The Wall Street Journal reported the decision was based on analysis of customer demand.

"Some guests would say they loved our hot dogs, and we didn’t even have hot dogs,” Burger King North America president Alex Macedo told WSJ.

Business Insider had the scoop, with reporter Kate Taylor writing that BK's dogs have "a nice smokiness that wouldn’t be out of place at a family barbecue." However, she noted that the franks weren't very filling despite a high saturated fat content.

Restaurant Brands International Inc QSR, which controls Burger King, were little changed on the day.
