At 10:30 am, the Dow fell 0.88 percent to 16,322.00, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index moved down 0.87 percent to 1,923.45 and the NASDAQ composite index fell 0.65 percent to 4,584.04.

The industries that are still afloat in the market today are:

Diversified Communication Services: This industry gained 1.8 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was NTT Docomo Inc (ADR)(NYSE: DCM), which rose 5 percent. NTT Docomo's PEG ratio is 1.47.

Silver: This industry rose 1.4 percent by 10:30 am ET. The top performer in this industry was Pan American Silver Corp. (USA) (NASDAQ: PAAS), which gained 3.4 percent. Pan American Silver shares have dropped 43.99 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has declined 3.99 percent in the same period.

Appliances: The industry gained 1.3 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE: WHR), which gained 1 percent. On Friday, Whirlpool reported upbeat quarterly earnings.

Electronics Stores: This industry moved up 1.2 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME), which rose 1.2 percent.
