Smartwatch War Heating Up: Microsoft Offers Up To $250 Discount To Apple Watch Users

Good news for Apple Inc. AAPL's smartwatch owners who aren't satisfied with their device: You can trade in your device and receive a credit of up to $250 towards the purchase of Microsoft Corporation MSFT's new smartwatch, the Band 2.

According to Microsoft's online store, Apple's Stainless Steel 38MM Watch can be exchanged for up to a $250 credit while lower end models, such as the Silver Aluminum 38MM case can be exchanged for a credit of up to $150.

Microsoft's offer also applies to prior models of its Band devices and competing devices from Fitbit Inc FIT, Nike Inc NKE, and many other manufacturers.

According to Apple Insider, Apple has been the "dominant" player in the space - likely indicating why Microsoft is undertaking its latest promotion.

Meanwhile, ZDNet argued that the Microsoft Band 2 is "the device to consider" for users that are "serious" about improving their health as Apple's client base mostly use their Watch for time and notifications.
