OpenText Appoint's Ex-Oracle Executive As President, CEO To Also Assume Title Of Chief Technology Officer

Open Text Corporation OTEX announced on Thursday that the company's Chief Executive Officer, Mark J. Barrenechea, will continue to serve as CEO and will also assume the role of Chief Technology Officer.

Open Text also announced the appointment of Stephen Murphy as President. Murphy most recently served as a Senior Vice President and General Manager at Oracle Corporation ORCL where he was responsible for driving revenue and expanding margins for the company's North American Services.

"Steve brings extraordinary talent to OpenText and I look forward to working with Steve for many years to come," said OpenText CEO Mark Barrenechea in the company's press release. "With Steve now part of our Executive Leadership Team, I can focus more on OpenText strategy, M&A, customers and our next generation products. Over the past four years, the team has dramatically improved the operations of the business, and I look forward to applying the same level of energy and results to the strategic aspects of our future."
