blog post from Amazon, while its fleet of delivery drones may look like something out of a science fiction universe, it's real and a service the company will indeed offer in the future. Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson narrated a

new commercial

for Amazon. The setting consists of a family whose daughter is in immediate need of a new set of soccer shoes. The parents make use of an Amazon branded tablet to order a specific pair of Puma soccer shoes, naturally from Amazon, which will be delivered in 30 minutes or less – via a drone. "In a location not too far away, a miracle of modern technology is dispatched," Clarckson said in the commercial. "It's an Amazon drone." In the video, actual footage of a live working model of a drone is shown. The drone takes of vertically, flies to the end destination, identifies a safe spot to deliver the package, and then returns back to Amazon's fulfillment center. Amazon is currently testing Prime Air development centers in the United States, United Kingdom, and Israel. The vehicle itself is also being tested in multiple international locations. Amazon noted that its drones can deliver packages weighing up to five pounds in 30 minutes or less. The vehicle flies under 400 feet and weighs less than 55 pounds.
