Hyatt Hotels is said to be in talks to acquire Starwood Hotels & Resorts, according to sources as reported by

on Wednesday in cash and stock deal. Hyatt management would retain control of the combined company. On Wednesday,
The Wall Street Journal reported that at least three Chinese companies were competing to win government approval to bid to acquire Starwood. In April, CNBC's David Faber reported that Jana Partners and Dan Loeb's Third Point were potential buyers for Starwood. Hyatt and Starwood declined comment to CNBC. Starwood shares rose 6.27% Wednesday, closing at $79.50. Texas Instruments Said to be in Talks to Acquire Maxim The Rumor:
Texas Instruments Inc. TXN is in talks to acquire Maxim Integrated Products Inc. MXIM, according to sources as reported by Bloomberg on Wednesday. The report says Maxim is seeking a big premium. On October 14, Bloomberg reported that Maxim had been approached by Analog Devices, Inc. ADI. Analog shares sold off on today's rumor. Maxim closed at $40.34 Wednesday, up 5%. IBM to Acquire The Weather Company's Product and Technology Businesses The Rumor:
IBM IBM announced Wednesday, that it has agreed to acquire The Weather Company's B2B, mobile and cloud-based web properties, including WSI, weather.com, Weather Underground and The Weather Company brand, but not including The Weather Channel, which will license weather forecast data and analytics from IBM under a long-term contract. Financial terms were not disclosed. IBM closed at $140.83 Wednesday, up 2%.
