US Stock Futures Signal Lower Start On Wall Street

US stock futures traded lower in early pre-market trade. Data on consumer spending for August will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET, while the pending home sales index for August will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. The Dallas Fed manufacturing index for September will be released at 10:30 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 106.5 points to 16,096.5, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures fell 13 points to 1,906.25. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index declined 32 points to 4,181.50.
A Peek Into Global Markets
European markets were lower today, with the Spanish Ibex Index declining 0.55 percent, STOXX Europe 600 Index falling 1.12 percent and German DAX 30 index dropping 1.35 percent. French CAC 40 Index slipped 1.81 percent and London's FTSE 100 Index fell 1.49 percent. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rose 1.76 percent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 0.43 percent, China's Composite Index Index fell 1.60 percent and India's BSE Sensex dipped 0.95 percent.
