Worst Performing Industries For September 8, 2015


The Dow rose 1.46 percent to 16,337.42, while the NASDAQ composite index climbed 1.57 percent to 4,757.28. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 1.38 percent to 1,947.75.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

Discount, Variety Stores: This industry declined 1.2 percent by 11:00 am with Dollar General Corp. (NYSE: DG) moving down 0.8 percent. Dollar General's trailing-twelve-month profit margin is 5.73 percent.

Diversified Machinery: The industry dropped 0.9 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Continental Materials Corporation (NYSE: CUO), which declined 15 percent. Continental Materials shares have dropped 11.33 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has slipped 4.01 percent in the same period.

Oil & Gas Equipment & Services: This industry tumbled 0.8 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Forbes Energy Services Ltd. (NASDAQ: FES), which fell 11.3 percent. Forbes Energy Services' trailing-twelve-month ROE is -15.05 percent.

Toy & Hobby Stores: This industry fell 0.6 percent by 11:00 am ET. Watts Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc (NYSE: BBW) shares dropped 1 percent in today's trading.
