The University of Michigan will release the results of its bimonthly Survey of Consumers at 10 a.m. EST. The report documents consumer confidence based on economic conditions as well as the economic changes that people expect in coming years.
The university's Consumer Sentiment Index rates the relative levels of current and future economic conditions in the eyes of consumers. A higher-than-expected rating should be interpreted as bullish for the U.S. dollar and positive for the domestic economy.
The index read 90.7 for the month of May, down 5.4 percent from April's 95.9 but still an 11 percent jump year-over-year. Consensus expectations for this morning's report rest at 91.5, a slight increase from May.
