The Dow dropped 0.03 percent to 18,266.55, while the NASDAQ composite index rose 0.01 percent to 5,048.81. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.01 percent to 2,122.88.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

Cement: This industry declined 1.4 percent by 11:00 am with James Hardie Industries plc (ADR) (NYSE: JHX) moving down 3.7 percent. James Hardie's trailing-twelve-month EPS is $0.17.

Foreign Utilities: The industry dropped 1.3 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was CPFL Energia S.A. (ADR) (NYSE: CPL), which declined 1.8 percent. CPFL Energia's PEG ratio is 3.78.

Foreign Money Center Banks: This industry tumbled 1.2 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Westpac Banking Corp (ADR) (NYSE: WBK), which fell 3 percent. Westpac Banking shares have dropped 16.03 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 12.61 percent in the same period.

Nonmetallic Mineral Mining: This industry fell 1.2 percent by 11:00 am ET. Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE: ANR) shares dropped 3.8 percent in today's trading. Alpha Natural's trailing-twelve-month ROE is -21.13 percent
