The Dow dropped 0.07% to 17,179.39, while the NASDAQ composite index fell 0.56% to 4,612.09. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index slipped 0.48% to 1,992.53.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

Silver: This industry fell 2.43% by 11:00 am ET. Endeavour Silver Corp. (NYSE: EXK) shares dropped 9.2% in today's trading. Endeavour Silver updated NI 43-101 silver and gold reserve and resource estimates for its mines and exploration project in Mexico.

Semiconductor - Integrated Circuits: This industry tumbled 1.98% by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Electro Scientific Industries Inc. (NASDAQ: ESIO), which fell 8.8%. Electro Scientific reported a Q3 loss of $0.21 per share on revenue of $121.5 million and issued a weak Q4 forecast.

Computer Peripherals: This industry declined 1.80% by 11:00 am with Xplore Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: XPLR) moving down 2.1%. Xplore Technologies' trailing-twelve-month ROE is -15.45%.

Consumer Services: The industry dropped 1.63% by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Spark Networks, Inc. (NYSE: LOV), which declined 5.4%. Spark Networks shares have dropped 37.48% over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 11.59% in the same period.
