Microsoft Buys Text Analysis Firm For Undisclosed Price

Microsoft Corporation MSFT acquired text-analysis software provider Equivo for an undisclosed price.

Israel-based Equivo's products are used to manage large quantities of email and documents.

Equivo reportedly signed a letter of intent to be acquired by Microsoft for about $200 million in October.

Equivo's technology has achieved broad acceptance in the legal community, according to Rajesh Jha, Microsoft's Outlook and Office vice president.

"We are making this acquisition to help our customers tackle the legal and compliance challenges inherent in managing large quantities of email and documents," Jha said.

Equivo customers include federal agencies, law firms, corporations and other organizations, Microsoft said.
