Ford Posts 2% Drop In November Sales Amid Model Switches

Ford Motor Company's F U.S. sales fell 2 percent in November to 187,000 vehicles in a decline the company said was related to retooling for new models

Ford said it expected the drop in sales as it "manages its inventory levels as vehicle availability starts growing" for the all-new Ford Mustang, F-150 and Transit models.

“Our all-new Mustang is moving quickly off dealer lots,” said John Felice, Ford vice president, U.S. Sales. Mustang had its best November sales in eight years, with 8,728 cars sold.

Ford Escape sales increased 22 percent in November to 25,528 vehicles, representing Escape's best-ever November performance.

Explorer sales grew 13 percent to 14,949 vehicles, for its best November since 2004.

Lincoln sales increased 21 percent to 8,113 vehicles the brand's best November in seven years. Lincoln MKC sales represent its second month above the 2,000 vehicle mark, with 2,152 vehicles sold as it continues to strengthen the brand overall.

Ford's much-discussed new version of its F-150 pickup truck started rolling off production lines this month and is expected to become widely available in February. The vehicle features an aluminum body.

Ford launched its latest version of the Transit last summer as a 2015 model. Light commercial vans under the Ford Transit name have been manufactured since 1953 starting in Europe.
