US Stock Futures Edge Higher Ahead Of Jobless Claims Report

US stock futures traded higher in early pre-market trade, ahead of economic data. Data on weekly jobless claims and import prices for July will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 15 points to 16,634.00, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures rose 1.80 points to 1,946.50. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index gained 4 points to 3,949.75.
A Peek Into Global Markets
European markets were higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index gaining 0.02%, STOXX Europe 600 Index rising 0.35%. German DAX 30 index surged 0.44%, French CAC 40 Index climbed 0.45% and London's FTSE 100 Index gained 0.50%. Germany's economy shrank 0.2% in the three months to June. Germany's economy contracted 0.2% in the second quarter. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average jumped 0.66%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dropped 0.36%, China's Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.74% and India's Sensex surged 0.71%. India's wholesale price index climbed 5.19% y/y in July.
