Twitter Inc (NASDAQ) wants to expand its service into China where it sees a vast market opportunity, according to a report Monday by the Nikkei news service. Chief Executive Officer Dick Costolo told Nikkei that he's "optimistic" about company prospects in China and that the company is adding staff specialists for conducting political negotiations with various governments. China currently blocks Twitter, and the company will have to accept censorship by Chinese authorities. "We do not change the principles of the platform," Costolo told Nikkei, which noted the company faces stiff competition in China from already established similar services including Weibo. Twitter traded recently up 0.3 percent to $43.26 a share.
