Detroit Venture Partners CEO Josh Linkner just wrote a new book, The Road to Reinvention: How to Drive Disruption and Accelerate Transformation.

There's a lot to know about Linkner, a jazz guitar-loving, four-time tech entrepreneur, and he took the time to answer a few questions for Benzinga.

His first job out of college was playing guitar professionally

He worked in smoky bars, cruise ships, weddings, restaurants and anywhere that would hire him. He saved up enough cash from playing those gigs to launch his first company at 20 years old.

He believes we all have a responsibility to push the boundaries and defy tradition, but he actually eats Kellogg's K Kashi cereal and skim milk.

He's worked his whole life

Linkner pumped gas at 13 and cleaned dishes and ovens at the age of 14. He says he learned grit and resilience from those experiences.

He said a leader's job is to help those they lead achieve their full potential.
