According to an M&A report for the month of February 2014 by Zephyr, a database of M&A, IPO, and private equity and venture capital deals, the value of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deals in North America almost doubled to $187.9 billion during February 2014 from $98.6 billion in January 2014. The total deal value was up 37% over the corresponding period last year. However, the number of deals declined 18% month-on-month to 1,059 while it was down a marginal 2% year-on-year. A total of 828 deals were announced in the U.S. which aggregated to $173.1 billion, while 231 deals worth $14.8 billion were announced in Canada during February.
