today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, IRG, has been awarded a $14 million task order by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/Philippines for the Building Low Emission Alternatives to Develop Economic Resilience and Sustainability (B-LEADERS) project. Engility will support USAID/Philippines efforts to strengthen the capacity of the Philippine government and its key partners to plan, design, and implement Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS). These LEDS will be established in order to increase climate change resilience - the capacity of the Philippines to withstand the current and future effects of climate change - and climate change mitigation, which refers to the actions that the Philippine Government can take to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. “Engility is honored to support USAID and the Philippine Government on the B-LEADERS Project,” said Tony Smeraglinolo, President and CEO of Engility. “This award reflects our strong past performance, our expertise in the clean energy and climate economics, as well as our commitment to the mission and success of our USAID customers around the world. This contract also builds upon the work we completed for the Climate Change and Clean Energy (CEnergy) program during which our team laid the groundwork for this new phase of environmental protection and sustainment in the Philippines.” Under the CEnergy program, the Engility team assisted USAID/Philippines with the design of a climate change policy and legal framework, as well as various clean energy demonstration projects. The award for the B-LEADERS project is a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract with a four-year base period valued at $14.2 million with a one-year option at an additional value of $2.2 million. USAID administers foreign assistance programs which provide economic and humanitarian support to more than 80 countries. USAID's programs offer a wide range of services including disaster relief, poverty relief, socio economic development, and technical cooperation on global issues including the environment.
