LogMeIn Abruptly Ends Free Service

LogMeIn LOGM allows users to work with their PCs remotely from an iOS or Android device.

The company offered a basic free package called LogMeIn Free and offers a paid version, LogMeIn Pro, that provides extra features such as the ability to remotely transfer files from one remote PC to another.

According to a notice Tuesday, LogMeIn is set to discontinue its free service.

Users will have seven days to upgrade to a premium access account. Users who do not upgrade to the paid service will lose access.

LogMeIn's website reveals that the cheapest option, which includes access to two computers, will set users back $99 a year. A Pro subscriber package for small business owners costs $449 a year and provides access for up to ten computers. Jason A. Miller, President at Access Computer Technology took to social media and wrote “I guess today is the day that LogMein.com says loud and clear that “There's no such thing as a free lunch (anymore). I only had LogMeIn set up for about 200 computers so the new deal will only cost $5,000/year now instead of FREE!”
