US stock futures traded mostly flat in early pre-market trade, ahead of economic data. The FOMC will begin its two-day policy meeting today. The producer price index and retail sales for September will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The S&P/Case-Shiller home price index for August will be released at 9:00 a.m. ET. Data on business inventories and the Conference Board's consumer confidence index will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 3 points to 15,521.00, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures dropped 0.10 points to 1,758.60. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index fell 0.75 points to 3,382.50.
A Peek Into Global Markets
European markets were higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index gaining 0.71%, London's FTSE 100 index rising 0.39% and STOXX Europe 600 Index climbing 0.24%. German DAX 30 index rose 0.16% and French CAC 40 Index climbed 0.30%. Asian markets ended mixed today. Japan's Nikkei Stock Average fell 0.49%, China's Shanghai Composite declined 0.23% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index surged 0.18%. Australia's ASX/S&P500 fell 0.49% and India's Sensex jumped 1.74%. Japan's retail sales climbed 3.1% y/y in September, versus economists' expectations for a 1.9% gain. The Reserve Bank of India raised its key lending rate to 7.75%.
