Corporation (SAIC)
announced it was awarded a task order by the
Indian Health Service (IHS) to help replace its Electronic Dental Record (EDR)
system. The single-award firm fixed-price/time and materials task order has a
one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a total
contract value of approximately $17 million if all options are exercised. The
task order was awarded under the General Services Administration's Alliant
government-wide acquisition contract. Work will be performed at Rockville,
Md. and locations across the continental United States and Alaska.
The IHS, an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services, is
responsible for providing federal health services to American Indians and
Alaska Natives. The IHS is the principal federal health care provider and
health advocate for American Indians and Alaska Natives, and its mission is to
raise their health status to the highest possible level. IHS provides a
comprehensive health service delivery system for American Indians and Alaska
Natives who are enrolled members of 566 federally recognized Tribes.
Under the task order, SAIC will continue functional support for all phases of
the EDR implementation associated with interface, security, testing, task
management, administration, program oversight, and to manage improvements to
the practice management tools available to IHS dental clinics through a
software product solution. This effort includes seamless interfaces with the
existing Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS), ensuring consideration
and implementation of adequate security compliance and value-added processes
that support the capabilities of the new EDR system. In addition, it is
expected that existing implementation support infrastructure will be
maintained and that current procedures and processes will be utilized in order
to avoid unnecessary cost to the government and duplication of effort.
