, a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on transforming the lives of patients with severe genetic and orphan diseases using gene therapy, today announced the closing of its initial public offering of 6,832,352 shares of common stock at an initial public offering price of $17.00 per share, which includes the exercise in full by the underwriters of their option to purchase up to 891,176 additional shares of common stock. All of the shares in the offering were offered by bluebird bio. The company's common stock is listed on The NASDAQ Global Select Market under the trading symbol “BLUE.” J.P. Morgan Securities LLC and BofA Merrill Lynch are acting as joint book-running managers for the offering. Cowen and Company is acting as lead manager and Canaccord Genuity Inc. and Wedbush PacGrow Life Sciences are acting as co-managers.
