Tsinghua Unigroup Offers to Buy Spreadtrum Communications fro $28.50/Share
The Offer:
Tsinghua Unigroup announced Friday that it has made a non-binding offer to acquire Spreadtrum Communications (NASDAQ: SPRD) $28.50 in cash per American Depositary Share.
Tsinghua Unigroup has committed to guaranteeing the aggregate purchase price, which may be funded through a combination of equity and debt financing.
Spreadtrum's Board of Directors confirmed receipt of the offer and is reviewing and evaluating the proposal.
Spreadtrum Communications closed at $25.91 Friday, a gain of 16% on 4.5 times average volume.
JoS A Bank Confirms Company is Seeking Potential Acquisitions

JoS. A. Bank Clothiers (NASDAQ: JOSB) confirmed after the close Friday that it has been considering strategic opportunities to enhance shareholder value, including potential acquisitions. Financo is assisting the company in its strategic review.
JoS. A. Bank Clothiers closed at $39.63 Friday, and traded $0.61 higher after-hours.
GTCR is Potential Bidder for MoneyGram
The Rumor:
Private equity firm GTCR is a potential bidder for MoneyGram International (NYSE: MGI), according to the NY Post. Deal Reporter said on June 18 that MoneyGram might be for sale.
A MoneyGram spokesperson declined comment on the story.
Moneygram International closed at $21.45 Friday, a gain of 5% on almost 4 times average volume.
