(www.miteksystems.com), a leading mobile imaging software solutions provider, today announced that it has been issued U.S. Patent No. 8,452,098, "Methods for Applying a Signature Simplicity Analysis for Improving the Accuracy of Signature Validation," by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This patent describes the process for measuring signature simplicity, and using it to detect fraud. Mitek now has 15 U.S. and international patents issued and 24 patent applications pending in the U.S. and Canada. Detecting user fraud in the mobile channel is a high priority for financial institutions, especially as consumers demand an increasing array of services on their mobile devices such as paying bills, depositing checks and more. When someone signs a check or other document, their signature is a unique and valuable tool for user verification and fraud detection.
