US Stock Futures Down Ahead Of GDP Data

US stock futures are lower this morning, as investors are awaiting growth data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 38 points to 14,615.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 5.20 points to 1,576.50. Nasdaq 100 futures declined 8.50 points to 2,835.50.

US stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 0.17% to 14,700.80, the S&P 500 index surging 0.40% to 1,585.16 and the Nasdaq 100 index rising 0.62% to 3,289.99.

Data on GDP growth for the first quarter will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET, while the Reuter's/University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index for April will be released at 9:55 a.m. ET.

Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN) reported upbeat first-quarter net income. For the current quarter, the company projects revenue of $14.5 billion to $16.2 billion, versus analysts' estimates of $15.92 billion.

Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) reported a rise in its second-quarter profit and lifted its full-year earnings view.

Burger King Worldwide (NYSE: BKW) is estimated to report its Q1 earnings at $0.17 per share on revenue of $318.67 million. American Electric Power Co (NYSE: AEP) is estimated to report its Q1 earnings at $0.80 per share on revenue of $3.78 billion. Autoliv (NYSE: ALV) is projected to report its Q1 earnings at $1.22 per share on revenue of $2.09 billion. DR Horton (NYSE: DHI) is estimated to report its Q2 earnings at $0.19 per share on revenue of $1.26 billion.

Weyerhaeuser Co (NYSE: WY) is projected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.23 per share on revenue of $1.87 billion. Chevron (NYSE: CVX) is expected to report its Q1 earnings at $3.07 per share on revenue of $67.73 billion. Barnes Group (NYSE: B) is estimated to report its Q1 earnings at $0.48 per share on revenue of $335.88 million.

Gardner Denver (NYSE: GDI) is expected to report its Q1 earnings at $1.06 per share on revenue of $535.09 million. V.F. Corporation (NYSE: VFC) is estimated to report its Q1 earnings at $2.18 per share on revenue of $2.64 billion. Saia (NASDAQ: SAIA) is estimated to report its Q1 earnings at $0.38 per share on revenue of $272.49 million. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co (NYSE: GT) is projected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.31 per share on revenue of $5.10 billion.

European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index declined 0.75%, London's FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.55%, French CAC 40 Index fell 0.98% and German DAX 30 index fell 0.48%.

Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average declining 0.30%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index falling 0.03% and China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.97%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.65% and India's Sensex declined 0.55%.
