John Lundgren and Tamara Lundgren are not like most couples. As the chief executives of two of the world's largest firms, they are lucky if they see each other once a week.
"We have a blood oath that we see each other on Friday nights somewhere," Tamara, who is the CEO of
Schnitzer Steel IndustriesSCHN
, told CNBC this morning. "Maybe home, maybe on the West Coast. It might be on the East Coast. And then we get these occasions where we get invited to be in New York on the same day." Tamara works at Schnitzer's headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Her husband, who serves as the CEO of
Stanley Black & DeckerSWK
, is often 3,000 miles away. When asked if they give each other advice about running their different companies, John said that they have the "empathy factor." "And you know, bad week, we can share that, and we've all been through it," John told CNBC. "Good weeks we celebrate. We try to get that finished before the first bottle of wine is done on Friday night." The power couple was recently spotted at the
AT&TT
Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament. According to
Hartford Magazine
, they are the only Fortune 1,000 CEOs that are married to each other. John and Tamara Lundgren did not say how they planned to spend their Valentine's Day, but considering that it is not yet Friday, they might not get to spend much of it together.
