France posted a wider trade deficit in August, according to data from the customs office. The country's trade deficit widened to 5.3 billion euros ($6.9 billion), versus a revised figure of 4.1 billion in July. France's exports surged to 38.17 billion euros from 36.829 billion in the year-ago period, while imports rose to 43.456 billion euros from 40.891 billion.
